Dean Sawyer, MBA – Board of Directors
Dean is an entrepreneur, healthcare executive, exponential executive and startup advisor known for commercializing new, innovative healthcare information technologies such as pharmaceutical eMarketing, electronic health records (EHR), remote patient monitoring and big data analytic solutions. Dean is the Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Exponential Officer of Sentrian and an advisor to Frost Data Capital and SeedHIT. Previous roles include Senior Vice President of Allscripts Information Services and Electronic Health Record divisions where he played a key role and growing EHR revenue from zero to more than $100M in six years, Chief Business Development Officer at Physicians Interactive (acquired by Merck) where he grew the company from $1M to $30M over 6 years, advisor to Singularity University, Appature (acquired by IMS Health) and GroupMD. Dean was also one of the original executives at Lathian Health, where he co-wrote the business plan that won $5 million in the world’s largest business plan contest. Dean is a graduate of the inaugural Exponential Medicine Executive Program at Singularity University, earned an MBA from Pepperdine University and a BS in Marketing from the University of the Pacific.
Stuart Frost is a highly successful, serial high-tech entrepreneur with more than 20 years’ experience in the technology market. Stuart was General Manager of Strategy for the Database Systems Group of Microsoft for two years following the acquisition of DATAllegro for $275m in August of 2008. Stuart founded DATAllegro in June of 2003, and was its CEO through to the acquisition. Prior to the DATAllegro exit, Stuart was founder and CEO of SELECT Software Tools. Founding SELECT in 1988 he led the company through rapid growth and expansion including a very successful IPO in 1996. Stuart has a degree in Electronics Engineering from Nottingham University in England and began his career in 1983 as a programmer and systems analyst.
Kevin Brown, Partner
Kevin has been involved in early stage technology & venture capital since the late nineties, first as an entrepreneur & then as an investor. He was a founding partner of Reed Elsevier Ventures in 2000 & has specialised in digital media, Internet and big data & technology investments since then. Kevin also serves as a director on the boards of Healthline, Fina Technologies, Intelligize, Martini Media, GigaOM & Struq and acts as a board observer at YCharts. He was previously a director at Inxight (acquired by Business Objects), Inpharmatica (acquired by Galapagos) and Recruiting.com & board observer at Intraspect (acquired by Vignette). He also manages the fund’s investment in Palantir and works with Seedcamp.
Donald Jones, CEO
Donald Jones is a globally recognized leader in Digital Medicine (sometimes referred to as Wireless Health, Digital Health, Connected Health, or mHealth). He is sought out as a speaker, advisor and board member. He works with healthcare, pharmaceutical and medical device, OEM, Telcos and early stage companies. Donald Jones is the CEO of Trial Fusion, a company focused on commercializing digital health products by providing design and partnership expert advise and clinical, user experience and economic evidence required for their adoption. Jones also serves as the Chief Digital Officer of the Scripps Translational Science Institute, working with the renowned Eric Topol, MD, on the convergence of genomics and wireless health – digital medicine. He co-founded Scripps Digital Medicine, the world’s first clinical trial center focused on digital health and large data sets. For 11 years through 2014, he led Wireless Health Global Strategy and Business Development for Qualcomm. He is Founder and Chairman of the Wireless Life Sciences Alliance. Working with the XPRIZE Foundation and Qualcomm’s CEO, Jones conceived the $10 million Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE, a global competition for a consumer device which makes medical diagnoses. CommNexus recognized Donald Jones as 2014 Digital Health Innovator of the Year.
